The Central Bank of Turkmenistan is to sign a contract with Turkish SUR Turizm Insaat Tijaret ve sanayi LTD STI company for carrying out interior and exterior repairs of Saparmurat Khaji mosque in Goktepe region of Akhal province. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to this effect yesterday "with the aim of further improving the architectural appearance of Goktepe."
As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent has learnt from the press service of the head of state, the contractor will also design and construct premises at the mosque to accommodate 1000 people to perform Sadaka (ritual meal). It will also build a museum as well as landscape the adjacent territory. The total cost of the project is US $ 34 million. The works should start this month and the facilities should be commissioned in January 2009.
