Today, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Ukrainian prime minister Victor Yanukovich who is presiding at a CIS heads of government council meeting in Ashgabat.
According to the Turkmen State News Service (TDH), the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation and discussed progress in implementing bilateral agreements reached earlier.
The interlocutors discussed the state of affairs at construction sites of a number of large-scale facilities in the territory of Turkmenistan where Ukrainian companies are involved. As Victor Yanukovich said to journalists after the meeting, the sides also discussed "unpleasant issues because we do not fulfill our obligations in full." "We have agreed that we will look into these issues and find compromise solutions soon," he said.
At a press conference Victor Yanukovich also said that Ukraine is willing to participate in construction of the Caspian gas pipeline together with Turkmenistan, Russia and Kazakhstan. He noted that he discussed this issue with the Turkmen president.
