The inauguration of the Ukrainian film festival was held at the Turkmen National Music and Drama Theatre named after Makhtumkuli in Ashgabat today.
As the Turkmenistan.ru's correspondent reports, this cultural action was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Turkmenistan jointly with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Ministry of culture, TV and Radio broadcast of Turkmenistan. According to the film festival organizers, the film festival is dedicated to the 16th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence and "will become one more contribution to strengthening and developing a fruitful dialogue between our countries."
Ashgabat residents and visitors will have the opportunity to get acquainted with films by Ukrainian cinematographers on October 15-17. The festival programme includes famous films such as the comedy "Chasing two hares" (1961 by V.Ivanov), the thriller "The green van" (1983 by A.Pavlovsky), the historical drama "White bird with the black mark" (1970 by Yu.Ilyenko) and "Zahar Berkut" (1971 by L.Osyka). The contemporary Ukrainian cinematograph offers its latest film - melodrama "Indi" (2007 by A.Kirienko).
