Bulgaria interested in transiting and exporting Turkmen gas
Bulgaria is very interested in transiting and exporting Turkmen gas, Bulgarian foreign minister Ivailo Kalfin said at a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov September 6. The head of state invited the Bulgarian partners to take part in geological prospecting, developing offshore Caspian fields and servicing onshore fields.

As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports, during the meeting the sides discussed issues of cooperation in the sphere of tourism, education, telecommunication, agriculture and processing industry. The Bulgarian foreign minister stressed his country's great interest in the project of North-South transport corridor. According to interlocutors, a project on development of the free tourist zone of Avaza has opened up a variety of opportunities for cooperation. Turkmenistan has passed a law in this regard providing for significant benefits to foreign investors.

On the same day, extensive talks were held as part of the Bulgarian delegation visit to Turkmenistan. The guests held meetings at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of trade and consumers cooperation, and the Ministry of motor transportation of Turkmenistan.

Members of the Bulgarian delegation, which included a bunch of journalists, also visited Kipchak where they laid flowers on the family Mausoleum of the first president of Turkmenistan.

In an interview with journalists, Ivailo Kalfin said the visit was very successful. "We will try to ensure the continuity of political dialogue and work out bilateral agreements that would provide a legal basis for bilateral relations. We will establish contacts between those structures that are interested in implementing joint projects. We see many opportunities for cooperation in the sphere of economy as well as in the humanitarian sphere, particularly in sports, tourism and culture," he said.
