Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has made a working trip to the Lebap province, August 29, to give a start to the practical realization of Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline construction project at the Bagtiyarlyk deposit on the right bank of the Amudarya River.
According to the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent, the head of the State Committee for Development and Reforms of the People's Republic of China Chen Demin attended the ceremony. He conveyed congratulations of President Hu Jintao of the People's Republic of China to the Turkmen President.
Chen Demin acquainted Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the marked route of the future gas pipeline that will run through the territory of four states - Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China. The total length of the gas pipeline is 7000 km. 188 km of the pipeline will run in Turkmenistan, 530 km - in Uzbekistan, 1300 km - in Kazakhstan, and over 4500 km - in China.
"God willing, the Turkmen leader said, from 2009 natural gas will be supplied to China". In his speech, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed that the transit of 17 out of planned 30 billion cub m of gas will be provided from the newly developed deposits, and the remaining 13 billion will be supplied from the gas treatment facilities on contractual territories at the Samandepe and Altyn Asyr deposits.
The Turkmen leader handed over to Jiang Zeming, the Chairman of the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation, the package of documents that guarantee the right to conducting activities on the contracted Bagtiyarlik territory. Among them is a license of the operator for exploration and production of natural gas, a license of the contractor on exploration and production and the map of the contracted territory.
A memorable plate was inaugurated in honor of this event. The first symbolic joint of Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline was welded after the plate inauguration.
